2016 Season - Week 23

The Best NFL Quarterback Ever

A big thanks to John Botten who sent me pictures of Gridiron Magazine’s feature on the Top 20 Quarterbacks ever (see the zipped folder attached). It’s not a straight ranking there is comment from Will Gavin on each of the players the experts voted on. It’s an interesting read even if it doesn’t include any Raiders QBs, no not even Todd Marinovich. Give it five more years and Derek Carr will surely be in the list. I’m looking forward to this creating quite a kerfuffle on email and so ask you to send me your top 5 all-time NFL QBs (in order from 1st to 5th) by next Tuesday so I can announce the BUMS top 20 QBs in the season’s final newsletter. So read the report and then let me have your votes as soon as possible. All-Time Leading Points Scorer Johnnie continues to lead the All-Time Leading Points Scorer (Regular Season only) having now amassed 10,599 regular season points. He has averaged 0.11 points per week more than second placed Chief, but over our 21 year history that becomes a lead of 43 points. The first change in the rankings occurs in 8th place where Marcus moves past Dave G. On average Johnnie has 481.8 points per regular season, while Papas Fritas winner Craig (480.1) moves back ahead of Chief (479.8) returning to the second spot, having lost that place to him last year. Wayne remains fourth averaging 452.2 points per regular season and Ron fifth with 447.8 points. There is no change in the top positions in the Official All-Time Leading Points scorer where Chief has now scored over 12,000 points ahead of Johnnie, Mark, Andy H and Cheryl. On average Chief has scored 549.5pts per season, with Craig returning to second (537.6) passed Johnnie who drops to third (529.3). Chief remains the highest play-off scorer with 1,533 post season points with Mark second (1,251) with Daz third on 1,180. Marcus is fourth on 1,133 with David Stamp rounding out the top 5 on 1047. BUMS Medals Table These gongs only go to those playing in the highest league in Fantasy Football who finish in the top three. So congrats to Craig who wins his first gold medal to go with the silvers he picked up in 2011 and 2014. Not a bad haul for an owner who only joined in 2009. Marcus’ silver is his first medal since he became the youngest ever winner of the Papas Fritas at 10 years and a month back in 2001. Chief’s bronze means he has medaled in 7 of the last 8 years and puts his tally at 3 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze but he is still behind Johnnie who lead the medals count with 4 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze. Will you be in the medals at the end of 2017? The final newsletter of the season will come out next week, including some important dates and the analysis – Trading Day, is it pointless?
